Take action
Gandhi
Ten things you can do to take action for a fairer world:
-
Learn more about global issues – the causes of poverty, conflict and environmental problems and possible solutions.
-
Make a personal commitment to be a part of the solution. Read about Tasmanian local heroes and school action.
-
Reduce your use of non-renewable, carbon-producing energy:
-
Buy less stuff. Read our page on consumerism.
-
Buy from fair trade, environmentally and socially responsible businesses.
-
Join or volunteer with an organisation that’s making a difference.
-
Eat less meat.
-
Open a bank account or superannuation fund with a socially responsible financial institution.
-
Conserve energy and water at home. Sign up to the Environment Challenge or get your school involved in the Sustainable Living Competition.
-
Watch less mainstream TV and find alternative media sources
