School Award The Human Rights School Award was introduced in 2008 by the Tasmanian Centre for Global Learning. The aim of this award is to acknowledge work in Tasmania by schools or school-based groups that have promoted human rights in schools and/or the wider community. The Award is presented at a ceremony during Human Rights Week in December. The Award includes a prize of $500 - to be used by the school/group to further its human rights activities - generously provided by Anthony and Elizabeth Peacock. All Tasmanian schools and school-based groups are invited to apply or be nominated for this award. Eligibility, criteria and access to a nomination form can be found below.
Eligibility
Any nominated activity must be authenticated by two referees or witnesses and by appropriate documentary support. The documentation must fully describe the nature and extent of the nominee’s activities and address the criteria described below. Nominations must be lodged by 31 October each year to:
Criteria Award winners are selected from those who are actively engaged
in the promotion/protection of human rights
relevant to the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
